Catching Up

When I started this blog, I intended to keep constant updates and I have failed! I haven’t posted anything since October of 2010, but I’m now going to make a conscious effort to write every other day until I can get into the habit of writing freely again. I mean with two posts this thing is out of date. I haven’t watched Glee since 2010. haha

As Buzz Lightyear would say, to infinity and beyond!

Got GLEE? GQ does!

“‘Glee’ Gone Wild”

There is more where that came from if you follow the link to GQ!

My thoughts were instantly… “wow”. I think it was mostly the shock factor.

Does a college degree guarantee a well paying job?

In his article Why did 17 million students go to college?, Richard Vedder raises some big questions regarding the importance and need for higher education.  Here is a quick quote:

Over 317,000 waiters and waitresses have college degrees (over 8,000 of them have doctoral or professional degrees), along with over 80,000 bartenders, and over 18,000 parking lot attendants. All told, some 17,000,000 Americans with college degrees are doing jobs that the BLS says require less than the skill levels associated with a bachelor’s degree.

I find that parents, grandparents, friends and other peers believe that higher education is THE key to success. Though it may contribute to a persons success, I would argue that higher education is not bigger than the overall “drive for more” that many people possess.  Statistically, on average, those with a college degree have a bigger income over the span of their life, though many are spending that income on huge college loans.

Either way, read the entire article and let me hear your thoughts. :)
